One morning the forest is silent, so Mina the squirrel picks up a twig like a conductor’s baton and starts to listen. She wakes the stream, sets the leaves swishing, shows a woodpecker when to knock and helps three bees hum together. Something is still missing, until everyone goes quiet and Mina hears Pip, a cricket who is afraid of singing the wrong note. “You can start softly,” she tells him, and soon the whole forest sings.
